The Executive Members of Ghana Oil and Gas Service Providers Association (GOGSPA) has paid a courtesy call on the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Dr. K.K. Sarpong, at his Office in Accra.

In his introductory address, the Executive Director of Ghana Oil and Gas Service Providers Association Mr. Nuertey Adzeman, said the rational behind their visit was to congratulate him on his appointment as the new GNPC boss; while they seize the opportunity to strike an acquaintance with him as well.And also , to fashion- out how the the two organizations can work together to enhance the agenda of local content participation in the Oil and Gas Sector in order to champion the cause of development in the country .This he said, would ensure that Ghanaians especially those at forefront of the petroleum activities are not sidelined.

Dr. K.K. Sarpong,in his delivery, was elated to meet the GOGSPA Executive Members .According to him, he has heard of them and was also anticipating to interact with them. He stated unequivocally that his outfit is ready to work with them to achieve the desired goals especially when it comes to promoting the local content agenda in the country.According to him, his doors are always open for further interactions and deliberations; urging GOGSPA rather to be proactive since their input is very important.

He stated that GNPC is scheming to roll-out a very massive Corporate Social Responsibility agenda in the country.The CSR agenda, Dr .K.k.Sarpong, said would be built on three(3) thematic pillars including: Education , Economic Empowerment and Environment & Social amenities provision.Adding that, scholarship packages would be given to students to study Science and Mathematics programmes since the country is lacking teachers in those relevant fields.

“One of the the modules include skills training , so that we can have a pool of skills personnel in the industry”, he said.

Throwing more light on the economic empowerment ; he noted that, GNPC would support the masses living at the coastal area where the Oil drilling take place.By giving them free seedlings , access to financial credit, marketing opportunities and free Extension Officers to assist them in their farming activities . This he said, would help them to regain their livelihood .
