Joseph Paul Mensah, a student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology last Saturday won the 2016 edition of the GNPC Ghana Fastest Human’s Who is Who competition staged at the BabaYara Stadium.
Paul clocked 9.80 seconds to dethrone ShadrackOpokuAgyeman who completed the race in of 9.99 seconds to place third, while Desmond Aryee took the second place with a time of 9.97 seconds.
The event, which attracted over 160 boys and girls sprint talents vying for honours in categories such as U- 10, U-15, Under- 18 and Seniors, saw the emergence of a new Ashanti Regional Female Champion, Kate Agyeman, who clocked 11.82 seconds to beat three-time champion Beatrice Gyaaman who finished the 100-metre race in a time of 11.85 seconds.
The U-18 competition was also thrilling when Sam Asare of the Prempeh College clocked 10.80 seconds, overpowering the reigning champion, Iddrisu Musa aka Tamale Usain Bolt who made it in a time of 10.81.
The 2016 edition of Ghana Fastest Human was sponsored by the Ghana National Petroleum Commission (GNPC), Surfline, Adidas, Indomie, Red Sea Maritime, Pippas Gym, Moringa King, EIB Network, Wrencos Printing, Afam beauty products.
