The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Headline Sponsor of the Black Stars, has expressed satisfaction at the team’s performance so far, in their 2017 AFCON Qualifiers and urged them to consolidate their position.
The Black Stars secured their 21st AFCON appearance on Sunday after beating the Doros of Mauritius 2-0 thanks to goals from Captain Andre Ayew and winger Christian Atsu.
“We are proud of your performance, after qualifying from Group H, as leaders” GNPC Acting Chief Executive, Alexander Mould, said in a message to the players and management of the Black Stars.“GNPC is confident that you will live up to your name as STARS and soar beyond reach” Mr. Mould added.
GNPC was established as a State-owned entity to operate on a commercial basis. The Corporation was given legal backing through two main statutes i.e. Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Law, 1983 PNDC Laws 64 and Petroleum (Exploration & Production). 84. The corporation’s vision is to become a leading global oil and gas company whose operations have a profound impact on the quality of life of the people of Ghana.
GNPC is the Headline Sponsor of the Black Stars with a $3million annual sponsorship package, which commenced in January 2013.
The Black Stars currently lead Group H with 13 points after 5 games and will host Rwanda in the last game of the 2017 AFCON qualifiers in September.
